Bring your own lunch and take a moment to learn about and commemorate Independence Day and Bastille Day (both celebrated in July) while enjoying a classic summer dessert: fruit tarts. Next week on Tuesday, July 21st from 12:30-1:30pm we’ll meet outside in the amphitheater area behind Founders Hall. (In case it rains, we'll move inside the 2nd floor lobby of KRB).

Independence Day is the United States' national holiday commemorating the nation's founding. It marks the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, formally declaring the 13 colonies' independence from Great Britain. Bastille Day (officially La Fête nationale) is France's national holiday, observed annually on July 14. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, a pivotal event that helped spark the French Revolution and came to symbolize the end of absolute monarchy in France.
